Behrend is having their 2006 Alumni Reunion October 20th - 22nd this year. It has become the tradition that we will have our chapter Alumni weekend at the same time. Depending on plans, the chapter may have a dinner or other events go on.
We will hold our Alumni Association meeting on saturday. Time will depend on final times planned for some of the Behrend events. (we usually have our meeting at 11am.)
Also, their will be elections for new Alumni board officers.
So come on up to Erie and join in the fun. Behrend has planned events for the whole family for those of you with children (or just like to act like one).
Some events planned include:
* Sunday Brunch with the Dean
* Family Fun Carnival and Jazz Concert
* Free Picnic Lunch
* Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner
* Penn State Creamery Ice Cream
* Alumni Nine Hole Golf Scramble
* Horse Drawn Trolley Rides
* Tours of the new Behrend Arboretum
* Open House in Astronomy at the Mehalso Observatory
* Popular Faculty Seminars: \"Classes You May Have Missed.\"
Last year their was even a wine tour that Hendo got piss drunk at and passed out on the bus. Not sure if the tour is going on this year.

with one week to go untill the big alumni weekend in Erie, we are moving along with our house donation drive.
I have updated the list with all the names of those who have donated (46 people in all as of now) and wanted to thank everyone. Also, to help show just who has been donating to the chapter their is a fraternity class breakdown on the donation list page as well.... you can see how many of each class on the donation page here
Their are a few names that honestly i forget the pledge class for, so if you spot somewhone who doesnt have a class name next to them let me know. also let me know of any mistakes.
Again, i want to thank everyone who has donated money, keep it up. I am looking forward to a very productive meeting this weekend, and just an all-around good time seeing everyone, the young guys, and all the Behrend activities.
Remember. Meeting at 1-3pm in REED 117on campus... Dinner saturday evening at Nunzi's.. figure 6-7pm timeframe to start. Their is a wine tour from 3-6pm that I believe a lot of guys are going on too.
Hope to see everyone up in Erie this Friday, Saturday and Sunday..

Brothers,
As some of you may know, the house and the chapter needs our help. The house has fallen on hard times and we are seeking the assistance and support of all the members, both new and old, of the chapter for help. Due to many different house related issues, we will be needing a new house. The issue are ones that this chapter has always had, the structure of the house and its repair, and it should not surprise anyone that this has happened. It was only time. We want to work towards a future goal of a new house, but unfortunately the current financial situation of the alumni association does not allow us to begin work on those big plans at this time. We are seeking help to raise money to save the future of the chapter be it in one way or another.

as a reminder this friday is the scheduled Happy Hour for May. Right now it is still planned for Bar Louie at Station Square. Show up whenever, usually starting around 5:30-6PM.
IF anything changes for the location I will post it here.... Anyone around Pittsburgh is welcome to come, active or alumni. We have these happy hour events planned for every first friday of the month, so over the summer maybe some of the college guys on vacation can attend.
Hope to see you all friday

Well as most of you know on April 16th the alumni association and the actives had our spring 2005 meeting. The topic of discussion was simply, the house. We discussed the current housing structure, horrible. The future wants and needs, a new house. And possible ways to achieve our goals. The general consensus was that we would need a new chapter house, or a major overhaul of the current one. While some of the facts are less than concrete, we decided to break up into three committees to address the various concerns. We were given until Dec 2005 by the borough to have the house repaired. And honestly, less time, by our insurance company it seems. It was decided the best action was to seek a new house (most likely build on our land or new land) for our chapter’s needs, but to also look at phasing into things using our current property. I attended the chapter meeting last night (April 12) as the actives discussed the various houseing plans for the future of the fraternity along with other items. I think it went very well and hopefully with this weekends other meetings we can all work together towards our goals.
Thank you to all the actives who have talked to me over the past few weeks, at formal and discussed things at last nights meeting. I think everyone there last night did a great job expressing their concerns, ideas and hopes for this chapter.
I had prepared something for the meeting to read but as the meeting ran long, and so much discussion about the issues was done I decided to simply post my message here on some things and let the actives or anyone else read them.
Changes and the Future - Brotherhood Meeting 2005-04-12
Yes, it is a bit on the long side as I just started to think about a lot of things that this chapter and its college members will be facing over the next decade. Feel free to share this with anyone you wish (its a PDF so it should be easy to email, or to link to) and comment on it. It is by no means everyone's view of our situation simply my own.
Thanks
Brian

It had been mentioned once that an alumni brother, or a the alumni's family may own some land up Jordon Road past I-90. The land would be past the point of campus.
Does anyone know who's family this may be? It has been brought up that the chapter may wish to purchase new land to build a new house on and we are trying to track this person down. If anyone remembers who, or knows of anyone who may know let me know ASAP. Kaylor and the actives think Anderegg may have known who owned the land, but noone has any contact info for him...
If anyone has any info please let me or Chris laugelli know.
Thanks...

Ok because i know none of you have probably seen it their is an Alumni Association section of the site. There will be any info related to the association and events. (its on the top nav bar)
Currently their is a tentative agenda for the meeting this weekend and some links to some information forms and alumni assoc news.
Everyone, please fill out an information form. .. it is to help us all (alumni and actives) get better records on people. Actives, Roses or any Alumni try to fill one out and send in the information. This way we can start actually sending out emails that dont bounce, invatations to events, or at least make sure everyone knows about whats going on.
Thanks

Just to let everyone know. The Alumni Association will be having its usual meeting the weekend of Formal (april 12th)
As to not break with tradition, the meeting will be at the house starting at 11 AM.
Any brothers around for formal feel free to come on by and talk about any conserns or ideas you have to the chapter. Remember, alumni need to be apart of the alumni association to attend. You can pay at the door if need be so you can vote on any issues that may come up. Feel free to join the association earlier. You can use the link on the left to get to the payment page through paypal OR send checks to the association.
Also, if you have anything that you would like discussed during formal or before, please let the Alumni e-board know. If we have an adjenda it could help get things more organized and help us to make progress. Contact me with any topics or ideas or just to let me know how things are going.
Thanks
Brian Lindner 'Da Prez'
Note: Feel free to comment on this or any topic at the sigtau Discussion forum.. it is a much better place to keep a record of discussions (Garrison, your comment is there)

In light of Kinger's question, I thought we should let you guys know what the deal is with membership into the alumni association. We were planning on sending out a letter and membership information to all alumni at the beginning of the year, but due to problems getting the accounts switched over and getting the addresses from nationals, it has put us behind schedule.
Membership dues are $50 for a year, and can be sent to myself (address below), or you can use the PayPal link on the left side of the web page. What does that $50 get you? The money that we collect in dues will in no way go towards anything dealing with the property or house maintenance, this is strictly for the alumni association. We are currently planning on scheduling 2-3 events/gatherings for alumni this year. One possible event is a pirate game/tailgate. If you have any suggestions, we will talk about it at the alumni meeting at formal, or you can email any member of the exec board (preferably Hootie, he is in charge of Programs). Members of the alumni assoc. will be able to attend these event for free or for a large discount compared to non-members.

Note: Please make checks payable to Sigma Tau Gamma Delta Upsilon Alumni Association, so Dave doesn't go drink the dues away.
