Formal
Well another year has passed and we survived the 2002 White Rose Formal, though the Ramada may have not. It was great seeing the few alumni who did show up as well as getting to know all the new brothers better.
Where to begin, what to say? So many things happened it's hard to know what to comment about but ill try to do a fair, clean recap of some of the highlights.

From the seemingly record low alumni turnout, to the wild late night at the Ramada. This is a formal to remember. The old friends, the new brothers, the remodeled house and the debauchery, it was all here and we made the best of it all.

Orr was there (Dave Orr, since we now have another Orr, no relation) and so were his nipple rings. Packy showed up with his date and entertained us as usual. A total of three white roses were around for the weekend and only added to the fun. Calvin showed up without the infamous 'Velvet Love'. We saw half naked people, girls on guys (yes even my date), plenty of laughs and people falling into walls. And this was only FRIDAY night!

Formal day brought everyone checking into the hotel and switching rooms for various reasons. The party preparation began and the ice machines were promptly emptied. Girls did their hair and the brothers hung out. Girls put on their dresses and gowns (or half tops for some of them!) and the brothers still just hung out. The ladies finished their makeup and with about 30 min till dinner, now us brothers got dressed. (Why do we need so little time?)

Tim Haring ran the event with his usual flair for words and proved that no matter how far you go in the past, their are always new lows to be found. Those brothers who had not already stolen a bite to eat from the buffet finally ate. Yes Josh Corle, we all saw you eating the rolls! Dates were 'feeling good' and some brothers 'felt no pain'. All this just as we got food.

The after dinner treat had to be the spontaneous selection of the key note speaker, yours truly. And what was the topic of choice selected by haring, what else but “Judaism and its relation to Sig Tau”. "Oh christ" does not do justice to what you are all probably thinkin right now. Well I must say I did a totally crappy job and can only hope I at least brought some comic relief for a bit. Next time gentlemen, give me a little notice.

The awards were handed out:
Tim Meyers – Man of the Year
Steve Smolen – Sportsman
Eric “E-roc” Docherty – Strap of the year. The new “Docherty brother’s strap of the year award”
Mandy Lecker – White Rose, again.

The music began, the mugs were grabbed from the tables and the party started. People danced, went to rooms, played twister and believe it or not, some actually drank! The formal saw group pictures of the families, boxers and pants a dropping, white boys trying to dance, and the Docherty boys celebrating the new strap of the year award. Higgins showed up, as did Mack with his daughter to try to bring some sanity to the event. Gilbert played G-man and impressed the chicks while Murray and JD opted for the bar. Tomlinson chilled out toward the back of the room and Boarts, as usual searched for food.

The afterparty began about midnight and as usual Shrock's was the place to be. Aladjem was there, as was Nick Hill and Crack. The fun ran into the halls and around the corners till about 6 am when us brave few called it a night. The alumni started the after party and helped to finish it! The laughter, the tears, the bowling? We had it all.

I want to thank everyone who attended the formal, the actives, the alumni who were there, and the ladies who put up with our dumb kind of fun. BTW, you girls all looked great! What can I say, twister was interesting, Orr, your still a crazy individual and we woke up people on the other side of the hotel!

All and all, a great time!
C-ya all next year
